Recent and forthcoming publications by members of the Charles Johnson Society on the work of Charles Johnson:

Thus far this year several members of the society have published work on Charles Johnson.

  • Will Nash’s book-length study of Johnson, Charles Johnson’s Fiction was published by the University of Illinois Press (2003).

  • This spring Linda Selzer’s analysis of “Master-Slave Dialectics in Charles Johnson’s ‘The Education of Mingo’,” appeared in African American Review (37, 2003: 105-114).

  • John Whalen-Bridge’s article on Dreamer, “Raising Cain: The Poetics of Integration in Charles Johnson’s Dreamer” was published in Callaloo (26.2, 2003: 504-521).

  • The society is pleased to report that Jim McWilliam’s wide-ranging collection of interviews with Charles Johnson (in which both Nash and Whalen-Bridge are represented) is forthcoming from the University of Washington Press.
